Phrases for Billiards and Pool Terms

snooker vs pool balls

There are many pool terms that you need to be familiar with, depending on which game you are playing. These terms can help win the game. For example, in Snooker you may be familiar with the "curve shot," which refers to a shot used to make your opponent jump over a cueball. You might also be aware of "bank shot," which is the act of hitting the cue ball off the cushion before contacting the object ball.

In pool, there are several terms to be aware of, including the "head string," which is a line running parallel to the head rail. The "head spot" can be described as an imaginary area that intersects the string. This line is used in pool because it tells you where to rack your balls at beginning of game.

The "head string" is not the only thing that the pool table has. It also has "stripes” and "solids." Solids are balls with a number between nine and fifteen. Stripes can be referred to as balls that have been completely colored.

A pool table can be equipped with either eight or three pockets. The object of the game is to sink all the balls in the right order. If all of the balls are in the correct order, you can win in one turn. However, you won't lose if you don’t play all of the balls in the correct order. Before you play each ball, it is important to call them.

The cue stick, a long wooden object that is used for hitting the cue ball, is a long stick made of wood. There may be soft or hard tips to the cue stick. The cue stick is a little bit larger than the other balls on the table. While the cue sticks can be stained, they are usually either blue or white. Chalk can be used to keep the cue stick on the cue ball. A sight shape, a small object that aligns your shot, is another helpful tool.

Cue sticks can be made of a variety of materials, including a stick made from wood, rubbery, or plastic. The ferrule is a portion of the stick beneath the tip. The ferrule should be hard, but it is possible to use a more flexible one. A scratch may be found on a cuestick. This is a small, sharpened object that can be found on the cuestick. This is used in all types of pool games.

Among the pool terms to know, you should also know about the "shock," which is the name of a chemical that burns off organic wastes. This chemical can be used to kill bacteria as well as algae. It can also be used for disinfecting water and removing haze.
