The Differences in Billiards, Snooker, and Pool

Three types of ball games are available: pool, snooker, and billiards. Although there are some similarities between the three, there are some key differences. These differences can be confusing for newbies. This article aims to dispel some of these common misconceptions.

There are many variations of all three games. Each game has its own scoring system and rules. Although they all can be considered table sports, each game has its own rules and equipment. The most common table size is 8 feet long by 4 feet wide. Pocket billiards is another variant.

Pool is a popular table sport. It is typically played with three balls of different color. When a player sinks a ball, he or she scores a point. A red ball earns you one point while an object ball gives you six. In pool, the object ball is shot from the bank to the opposite side of the table. However, the rules vary from region to region.

Snooker is, however, a more complicated game. The object ball is a game where one player attempts to steal the ball while the other tries to foul it. At the same time, the goal is to score as many points as possible. The "green call", an extra call that is worth three point, will be awarded points to players during the game.

Each form of pool and snooker has its own rules. For example, snooker has a particular rule regarding the ball's size. A snooker ball measures 2 1/8 inches, which is larger than a pool ball. A snooker balls are also smaller than standard billiards balls. Snooker balls will therefore travel faster.

Curved pocket leads are one of the most interesting features of snooker. It is made of a woven wool which allows it to move more quickly. Most snooker tables will have a net under their pockets to collect the balls. Another interesting feature of snooker is that it has a much higher skill level than most of the other billiards games.

Snooker is generally more recent than billiards and pool. Originally it was a gentleman's game, based on an earlier version of pool. It was originally played at a table with pockets. Later it was renamed pool. Although snooker retains a greater social reputation than pocket-billiards, it is still very popular.

Snooker and pool are more popular than billiards. Although they have their own sets of rules and equipment, they both involve a cue stick, balls and cues. Each player will need to play a number of frames to earn a winning score. 120 points is the maximum possible score for a snooker game. This is only a fraction, however. This comparison may offend many pool and snooker players, especially if they're experienced.
