The American Poolplayers Association, (APA), is the largest pool league worldwide. It has close to 270,000 members across the United States, Canada, Japan. They have also been ranked as one of the top small business opportunities by Franchise Business Review.
The sanctioning body of amateur pool competitions in Canada, the United States, and the United States is APA. They organize several major pool tournaments each year, including the APA World Pool Championships. In 2010 the APA World Pool Championships were certified by the Guinness World Records as the "World's Largest Pool Tournament."
APA also runs eight-ball, nine-ball tournaments. Each player in an APA team is required to have a membership in APA. Participants from other pool associations are also eligible. To apply for membership in APA, please contact your local APA League Operator. The President will interview you.

APA holds three other annual championships in addition to the APA Poolplayer Championships. These include the APA Junior Championships. They are open for teenagers and children between 7 and 18 years old.
The APA Poolplayer Championships are held in Las Vegas, Nevada. They typically take place in the late April or early mai. The tournament allows qualified poolplayers the chance to compete against poolplayers all over the world.
Several other international tournaments are conducted by APA, including the APA World Pool Championships in Singapore. These tournaments can be organized by APA League Operator franchisees. Those who do not qualify to compete at a national level can still take part in qualifying tournaments. Some players refer to the "Equalizer" handicapping system at APA as the "Equalizer". Unlike other tournaments, APA's handicapping system is not based on A-D rankings. It uses a proprietary system to rate the top 3 scores. But, an individual can receive more than one rating.
Some APA franchisees may have conflicts of interest. One franchisee, for instance, has been accused in some cases of sending players home. APA has the right to make this decision, but the franchisee had posted in numerous ** groups and has recruited players to his location. He then tried to claim that APA had kicked out a number of players in his territory.

Many APA League operators have been awarded the coveted APA League operator of the year award. Five of these operators received recognition at the APA Annual Convention held in Las Vegas. One of them was the only APA location in the world to win the award twice.
Another reason you should consider joining APA, is the extensive network of franchises. APA is home to more than 270 League Operators from the United States, Canada, Japan and Japan. Some of these venues offer in-house leagues. Although APA is the largest pool league in the world, a local League Operator does not have the authority to switch to a different league.
APA has a more than 270,000 strong network, but there are also more than 270 League operators who organize pool tournaments. These locations are often affiliated with APA. Additional costs may apply. Depending on where the franchisee is located, it may also include equipment and licensing fees.
