
The official snooker world ranking system ranks players based on their most recent performance. It is administered by World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. Each ranking series event is updated with this listing. A current snooker ranking is required in order to be eligible to participate on the World Snooker Tour. Seeding is determined by players' performance in particular tournaments.
For the first two years, the snooker world rankings were based on the results of three World Championships: the World Open, UK Championship, and the Professional Players Tournament. Each of these events awarded one seed to the winner and two to the runner ups. From 1976 to 1982, the World Championship was the only ranking competition. In 1982, the International Open was the fourth ranking tournament. There were more tournaments as the competition grew.
The World Championship knockout format was also reintroduced during this period. This was considered the start of modern snooker. Today, most records are based on the period starting from 1969. The current total number of titles on the snooker ranking list is 31.

In the 1970s Ray Reardon was the undisputed king of the snooker world. He was the World Champion and won six Welsh amateur titles. He won the 1974 World Championship. It was the first ranking event. His record for number of ranking titles stood until 1998, when Steve Davis took it away. But he retired from snooker.
Stephen Hendry was one of the most dominating players of the 1990s. He was the number one player for eight consecutive years, and he won seven world titles. He is currently tied with Ronnie O'Sullivan on the all time ranking titles list. However, he has decided to retire from snooker at the end of the 2012 championships.
Judd Trump is the current world ranked snooker champion. He is also the snooker player the year. He has not yet been able to take the top spot. At the beginning of 2019, he was only one point behind Mark Williams. Both players will face off in the finals of the 2020 UK Championship and the Cazoo Masters.
Kyren Wilson, another top player in this rankings, is also a big one. He is a Premier League specialist. He enjoys betting on sports and is an expert in MLB and NBA. He also enjoys playing in the NFL, MLB, and NBA. In his last two seasons, he has won four ranking finals, with two losses in the finals.

The four-time world champion Mark Selby has lost in the semi-final and quarter-final of the World Championship. He has also struggled with high-profile disappointments in his career.
From September 12-16th, Visakhapatnam in India will host the fourth Indian Open World Ranking Snooker Tournament. A number of celebrities will be watching the action. The event is open to all.
