When it comes to pool cues, there are many varieties to choose from. There is an English pool, American, and jump pool cue. These types all have their own unique characteristics. Knowing more about these types will help you make the right decision.

American pool cues

There are many differences in American pool cues from English cues. American cues almost always have a split in the middle while English cues can split at the 3/4 point. English pool and English snooker have begun to embrace the 3/4 joint. This cue allows the player balance the weight higher than it would with a standard cue. To find the right cue, you should try out different kinds of cues.

English pool cues

An English pool cuff is best for intermediate and beginner players. These cues can be as thin as other styles, reaching a maximum of eight to nine millimeters at the tip. A brass ferrule is often added to increase strength and durability. They can also come in ash wood because of its unique grain.

Snooker cues

Snooker cues can be made from a variety of woods. Some are made out of Ash, while others are made out of maple. They can have a tip of seven to eleven micrometers. The overall length is sixteen to eighteen inch. 3/4th jointed snooker cues typically weigh sixteen to nineteen pounds. You can also have snooker cups made from steel, stainless, or titanium ferrules.

Jump cues

A jump cue is a type of pool cue with a hard tip, which helps the player transfer more power to the cue ball. Jump cues come in many types, but the best will improve your jumping skills. You should consider all pros and cons before purchasing a jump cuff.

Squirt

A squirt results when the cueball strikes off-center. This creates a deflection which causes the ball travel in a different direction. This is due to physics, and could be caused in many ways. For example, an off center hit can cause the tip on the cue ball's to come in contact with an angled surface. So the bigger the deflection, it is the more off-center.

Capacity of tip

The tip size on an English poolcue can be adjusted to suit the type of game. The average cue tips are approximately 9.5mm. A cue tip that is larger than an English pool cue is American has approximately 9.5mm. This makes it easier to strike the cue ball. These cues, however, are hard to aim and not the best for Snooker.

Common parts in an English pool cue

English pool cues are usually made of Ash wood, with a brass ferrule for strength and a coarse leather tip for grip. They are the thinnest of all pool cues, with a length of around 57 inches and a tip that is about 8 to 9 millimeters wide. Ash is a strong wood with a hidden grain pattern. English cues are more flexible than American counterparts, which makes them less likely to warp.

English pool cues cost approximately $80

A quality English pool cue will cost you between PS30-PS300 depending on the material. A good cue should last for years. The performance of an English pool cue depends on many factors, such as its tip size and shape.
